Construction note: These kilim rugs, originating from Qaranawai, Herat, Afghanistan, are constructed using a unique kilim-weaving technique.  Unlike the traditional kilim Afghan rugs in my collection, these kilims rugs have a durable cotton base and high knot counts (more knots per square inch), which helps produce intriguing geometric designs.
